Preschoolers in classroom 302 are learning firsthand about PETS, the current Tools of the Mind curriculum theme. In the process, they also are discovering more about the role of a veterinarian.
- On March 23, preschoolers met Great Dane SCOOBY, a certified and registered therapy dog. SCOOBY's owners, Bob and Lois Gorbsky, shared information about SCOOBY's eating, exercise, and training habits. Children enjoyed asking questions--especially about his very loud bark--and shaking SCOOBY's paw.
- On March 27, the children met pugs MR. CHIP and FRANKIE, also therapy dogs, and their owner, Britt Levi, a student at the School of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. Children took turns using a stethoscope to listen to MR. CHIP's heart. They also examined the anatomy of a dog using a special plastic model and reviewed picture books of different breeds of dogs.
