Children’s Village Receives Two Grants Totaling over $285,000!

We are thrilled to announce that in June, Children’s Village was awarded a $241,463 grant from the William Penn Foundation and in October, a $50,000 grant from the Oscar & Elsa Mayer Family Foundation.

The grant provided by the William Penn Foundation is a two year grant that supports CV’s new Staff Up Project.  The Staff Up project is a continuation of our efforts over the last three years to partner with local workforce development organizations to recruit, train, and effectively support entry-level ECE staff.  This project will help to secure the availability of high quality child care opportunities across Philadelphia by supporting child care center directors in their efforts to build a strong and diverse staff recruitment and retention culture.

The award provided by the Oscar & Elsa Mayer Family Foundation (OEMFF) is focused on supporting impactful high quality early childhood education programming.  With a commitment to asserting the inherent dignity of all, and supporting vulnerable communities, OEMFF has granted Children’s Village general operating funds to support the work we do to make high quality and comprehensive early learning available to all families, regardless of household income.

“Children’s Village is so lucky to have these community partners who share in our commitment to high quality Early Childhood Education. This funding comes at a crucial time–a time when costs are rising and the ECE sector is still facing a staffing crisis. We are so grateful to William Penn and the Oscar & Elsa Mayer Family Foundation for their support of high quality Early Childhood Education,” affirms Mary Graham.
